Manchester United considering signing Lucien Agoumé from Sevilla

Frenchman emerges as an option after failed attempts with other targets
Manchester United are weighing up a move for Lucien Agoumé, the Sevilla midfielder, as they look to reinforce their squad before the transfer window closes. According to journalist Máximo de la Cruz Ramírez, the 23-year-old Frenchman has been identified as a potential signing to strengthen the Red Devils’ midfield.
United’s Midfield Search Intensifies
So far, United’s main reinforcements have arrived in attack, with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Šeško joining Rúben Amorim’s squad. But after the club’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford their first loss of the season the need for midfield depth has become more evident.
The Red Devils had also shown interest in Carlos Baleba from Brighton, but negotiations stalled without an agreement. That setback pushed United to explore alternatives, with Agoumé now moving to the forefront.
Agoumé’s Profile and Impact at Sevilla
Agoumé joined Sevilla permanently this summer after a loan spell from Inter Milan. Last season, he featured in 37 matches, contributing one goal and three assists. His contract with the Spanish club runs until 2028, which means United would likely need to present a strong offer to secure his services.
Known for his versatility and physical presence, the Frenchman fits well into Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, which relies heavily on midfield balance. Against Arsenal, Amorim deployed Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu as wide players, with Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes in central roles. Substitutes Amad Diallo and Manuel Ugarte were also used during the match.
