Bayern Munich prepares €80 million bid for Atlético Madrid’s Pablo Barrios

Bayern Munich are reportedly preparing an €80 million offer (approx. R$511 million) to sign Pablo Barrios, one of Atlético Madrid’s standout midfielders from the 2024/25 season. The 22-year-old Spaniard has emerged as a top target for new Bayern coach Vincent Kompany ahead of the new campaign.
Bayern Identify Barrios as Priority Signing
According to European sources, both Bayern’s board and Kompany are aligned on bringing Barrios to the Bundesliga, viewing him as an ideal fit to strengthen their midfield. The official offer is expected soon, with the Bavarian giants aiming to close the deal swiftly.
Although Barrios’ release clause is set at €500 million (around R$3.2 billion), Atlético Madrid is reportedly open to negotiations if a significant proposal is made.
Atlético Open to Talks Under Right Conditions
While Atlético values Barrios highly, the Spanish club has not ruled out a potential sale. Should Bayern’s offer reach the €80 million mark, internal sources suggest the board may consider releasing the player, especially if it allows them to reinforce other areas of the squad.
The 22-year-old remains under contract with Atlético until June 2030, but with increasing interest from abroad, the Spanish club is monitoring market alternatives in case of his departure.
No Official Bid Yet, But Talks Advancing
As of now, no official bid has been submitted, but Bayern have held talks with the player’s representatives. The German club wants to accelerate negotiations to secure the midfielder ahead of the Bundesliga and Champions League seasons.
If completed, the transfer would be among the biggest moves of the 2025 summer window and a major statement of intent from Kompany’s Bayern.
