Barcelona seeks comeback in stoppage time against Levante in La Liga

Barcelona overturned a 2-0 halftime deficit to defeat Levante 3-2 at the Ciutat de Valencia, with the decisive goal coming in stoppage time. Hansi Flick’s side remains unbeaten after two league matches, reinforcing their early dominance in La Liga.

Levante Stuns Barça Before the Break

Levante executed their counterattacking plan perfectly in the first half. Iván Romero opened the scoring in the 32nd minute after dispossessing Lamine Yamal, combining with Toljan, and finishing past Pau Cubarsí and goalkeeper Joan García. Just before the interval, Morales doubled the lead from the penalty spot following a VAR review for Alejandro Balde’s handball, leaving the visitors shocked at 2-0 down.

Flick’s Tactical Changes Turn the Game

Hansi Flick made bold adjustments at halftime, bringing on Dani Olmo and restoring Raphinha to his natural left-wing role. The response was immediate. In the 48th minute, Pedri unleashed a brilliant long-range strike to reduce the deficit, and just three minutes later, Ferran Torres capitalized on a corner to equalize. In the space of 180 seconds, Barcelona erased Levante’s advantage.

Barça Pushes Until the Final Whistle

Despite Levante’s resilience and a standout performance from Manu Sánchez, who limited Yamal for most of the match, the home side could not hold out. Substitute goalkeeper Pablo Campos denied Raphinha late on, but in stoppage time, Yamal’s dangerous cross forced an own goal, sealing Barcelona’s comeback win.

Statement of Intent in La Liga

With this victory, Barcelona is the only team to win both of its opening matches, while rivals Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid have already slipped. Flick’s squad, even when trailing, showcased attacking depth and relentless intensity qualities that could make them favorites to dominate the season.
