Barcelona beat Mallorca, but Hansi Flick expresses dissatisfaction with the squad and board

Barcelona began their La Liga campaign with a 3-0 victory over Mallorca on Sunday (17), but the triumph was not enough to satisfy coach Hansi Flick. The German manager expressed frustration with both his players’ attitude on the pitch and the club’s board for delays in registering new signings.
Criticism despite victory
According to Marca, Flick admitted he only enjoyed “half of the match,” pointing out that his players eased off after taking control of the game. “I don’t like when players relax on the field; they can do much more,” the coach stressed.
One of the players highlighted was youngster Fermín López. Flick revealed he was not impressed with the midfielder’s preseason, although he acknowledged López had shown progress over the last two weeks.
Concerns about signings and registration delays
Beyond squad discipline, Flick is also unhappy with the board’s handling of transfers. Barcelona secured the arrivals of Marcus Rashford and goalkeeper Joan Garcia, but the coach is frustrated that administrative delays have postponed their official registration with La Liga.
“This situation doesn’t make me happy. The same thing happened last year, but I trust the club to solve it,” Flick said.
Tension with Laporta’s leadership
Flick’s dissatisfaction extends to other recent board decisions. The coach openly criticized the chaotic preseason planning in Asia, which was canceled, reinstated, and modified multiple times within days. “We missed two training sessions because of it. I was surprised, but it was the club’s decision,” Flick noted, signaling discomfort with president Joan Laporta’s management.
Despite the convincing win in Mallorca, the German coach’s words reveal that harmony between the bench and the board is far from ideal a situation that could impact Barça’s long-term stability if unresolved.
