Arsenal wants to take advantage of Lyon’s financial crisis to sign Malick Fofana

Arsenal is preparing another move in the transfer market and has turned its attention to Malick Fofana, Lyon’s promising 19-year-old winger. According to L’Équipe, the Gunners will compete directly with Bayern Munich for the player’s signature.
Lyon sets €40M price tag
Facing a financial crisis, Lyon is open to selling its most valuable asset. The French club set Fofana’s price at €40 million (R$255 million). Recently, Everton offered €30 million, but the bid was rejected immediately for being below expectations.
Club owner John Textor reportedly sees the sale as crucial to balancing Lyon’s accounts this summer.
How Fofana would fit into Arsenal’s attack
Arsenal has already strengthened its frontline with Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyökeres, who will form the core of Mikel Arteta’s attacking trio alongside Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
The addition of Fofana would provide much-needed depth, joining Leandro Trossard, Reiss Nelson, and newcomer Noni Madueke in the rotation. The youngster is seen as a long-term project, but could quickly become a useful option off the bench.
Concerns with Gabriel Jesus and Havertz
While Arsenal plans its reinforcements, Gabriel Jesus remains unsettled and could still leave. Meanwhile, Kai Havertz suffered a serious knee injury and will be sidelined for several months, making depth in attack even more important.
