Arsenal risk losing Eberechi Eze to Tottenham despite £55m bid

Arsenal’s pursuit of Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze may be collapsing, with rivals Tottenham Hotspur reportedly moving ahead in negotiations for the 27-year-old.

Tottenham in Advanced Talks

According to The Telegraph, Spurs have stepped up behind-the-scenes discussions with Palace as they aim to secure Eze’s signature before the transfer window closes. The player’s £67.5 million release clause expired last Friday (15), but Palace are still expected to demand a fee close to that figure.

The Eagles are also pushing for a significant upfront payment to part ways with one of their most influential attackers, who remains under contract at Selhurst Park.

Arsenal’s Failed Approach

Spanish outlet Fichajes reported that Arsenal had tabled an offer of around £55 million, but talks failed to progress. The Gunners’ hesitation may have left the door open for Tottenham, who now look favourites to land the England international.

Eze’s Career and Market Value

Eze joined Crystal Palace in 2020 from Queens Park Rangers and has since developed into one of the Premier League’s most creative and versatile attackers. His consistent performances have drawn long-term interest from top London clubs, making him one of the most in-demand forwards in the current market.

If Tottenham secure the deal, Arsenal will be forced to explore alternative attacking options as they continue to strengthen their squad for the 2025/26 campaign. Mikel Arteta’s side have already added depth in defence and midfield this summer, but the lack of progress on Eze could reshape their transfer priorities in the coming weeks.
