Arsenal eye Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapié, with defender preferring Emirates move over Spurs

The Ecuadorian centre-back has a long contract in Germany but has already signaled his desire to leave, opening the door for a Premier League transfer.
Arsenal move for Hincapié
Arsenal have set their sights on Piero Hincapié, one of Bayer Leverkusen’s key defenders, as part of their plan to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have made initial contact with the player’s entourage.
The 23-year-old has also made it clear that he would prefer a move to Arsenal over Tottenham, as reported by journalist Ben Jacobs (GiveMeSport). Spurs, however, remain attentive and could still rival the Gunners in the race.
Leverkusen’s stance and player’s request
Hincapié is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until June 2029 and has an estimated market value of €50 million (R$317 million). Despite this, the defender has requested to leave the club for around €45 million, signaling openness to negotiations in this transfer window.
Since arriving in Germany in the 2021/22 season, Hincapié has become a regular for Leverkusen. Last season, he played 45 games, scoring three goals and delivering two assists, while logging over 3,800 minutes on the pitch.
