Arsenal agree deal for 16-year-old prodigy Victor Ozhianvuna; transfer set for 2027

The Irish midfielder has already undergone medical tests and will remain at Shamrock Rovers until he turns 18.

Arsenal sign promising youngster

Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Victor Ozhianvuna, a 16-year-old attacking midfielder from Shamrock Rovers, considered one of Ireland’s brightest young prospects. According to The Athletic, the deal was sealed this weekend after the player successfully completed his medical in London.

Due to FIFA regulations, the teenager will only be able to join the Gunners once he turns 18. Until then, he will stay with the Dublin side, with the move scheduled to be completed in January 2027. The financial details of the operation have not yet been disclosed.

Profile of Victor Ozhianvuna

In addition to playing as a central attacking midfielder, Ozhianvuna can also operate on the left wing, showing versatility early in his career. His most notable professional appearance came on July 18, in the Irish Cup second round, when he played 90 minutes, scored his first professional goal, and helped Shamrock Rovers to a 4-0 victory.

The youngster’s performances in both domestic competitions and the Conference League drew the attention of Arsenal scouts, accelerating negotiations.

Arsenal betting on youth

The signing reinforces Arsenal’s recent strategy of blending young talent with their senior squad. Just last week, Max Dowman, aged only 15, made his professional debut in the Premier League against Leeds. The academy graduate impressed with his movement, won a penalty, and became the second-youngest player ever to appear for the Gunners in the competition.

Mikel Arteta’s confidence in young players continues to define Arsenal’s project, with Ozhianvuna now added to the list of names expected to feature in the club’s long-term plans.

Arsenal’s strong start

On the pitch, the Gunners have maintained a perfect start to the season. After beating Manchester United, they thrashed Leeds 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday (23). New signing Viktor Gyökeres scored twice and quickly silenced doubts about his arrival, while Eberechi Eze, Arsenal’s most recent reinforcement, was presented to the fans before kick-off.
