Antony agrees to renew with Manchester United to facilitate a return to Real Betis

Brazilian winger Antony is pushing for a return to Real Betis, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell last season. Out of Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim’s plans for the upcoming campaign, the 25-year-old is willing to take an unusual step: extending his Old Trafford contract to make another loan deal possible.
According to Estadio Deportivo and GOAL, Antony has made it clear that his only wish this transfer window is to rejoin Betis. The Spanish club is eager to keep him, but negotiations with United have proven difficult due to financial demands. Initially, United set a €40 million price tag well beyond Betis’s budget.
Player prioritizes Betis over other offers
Despite receiving interest from other clubs, Antony has reportedly dismissed all alternatives. He is focused solely on returning to Andalusia, where he scored nine goals and registered six assists in just 26 matches last season. His 15 direct goal involvements made him a fan favorite and a key part of Betis’s attack.
Manchester United exploring alternatives
United’s board originally leaned toward a permanent sale, but the winger’s stance and Betis’s financial limitations have shifted discussions toward another loan extension. Renewing Antony’s contract currently set to expire in 2027 would also protect his market value in the event of a future transfer.
There is also growing speculation that United could soften their stance by lowering their asking price. Reports from Mix Vale suggest the club may consider bids closer to €30 million, a figure that could make negotiations more realistic for Betis.
Outlook for the summer window
With Manchester United balancing financial considerations and Antony’s clear preference, the next steps could hinge on whether Betis find room in their budget or agree on a structured loan deal. For now, the Brazilian’s message is clear: his heart is set on returning to Spain.
