Alisha Lehmann leaves Juventus and will play for another Italian team

Swiss forward Alisha Lehmann, the most-followed female footballer in the world with over 30 million combined social media followers, has left Juventus after just one season to join Serie A Women’s side Como. The move, announced this week, positions Lehmann as the face of an ambitious project aimed at transforming women’s football on a global scale.

Part of a Global Expansion Plan

Como’s women’s team is now under the ownership of Mercury/13, a sports investment group planning to replicate the City Football Group model in the women’s game, building a network of elite clubs worldwide. Lehmann, 25, is expected to be the flagship signing for the initiative, boosting the club’s visibility and commercial reach.

Struggles at Juventus

Lehmann endured a difficult 2024/25 campaign in Turin, scoring just two goals in 22 appearances. Her limited impact also extended to the international stage, featuring for less than 45 minutes for Switzerland at the Women’s Euro.

Her current market value is estimated at around €200,000 (converted from R$1.2 million), still considered high in the women’s transfer market despite recent form struggles.

From Young Boys to Global Icon

Lehmann began her career in Switzerland with Young Boys before moving to England in 2018 to join West Ham. After three seasons, including a loan spell at Everton, she transferred to Aston Villa, where her performances and growing off-field profile earned global media attention.

The forward has represented Switzerland in multiple major tournaments, including the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and two Women’s Euros. She is also widely recognised in Brazil due to her former relationship with Brazilian international Douglas Luiz.

Turning Point in Her Career

At 25, Lehmann faces what could be a defining chapter. With Como’s backing and a leadership role in a high-profile project, the Swiss star has an opportunity to revitalise her on-field career while leveraging her unique influence off the pitch to shape the future of the women’s game in Italy and beyond.
