Rúben Amorim Lists Three Urgent Signings Needed at Manchester United

Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim has outlined three critical positions the club must strengthen during the current transfer window: goalkeeper, central midfielder, and a striker.

Despite the confirmed arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, Amorim believes the squad still lacks key pieces required to align with his tactical and cultural vision for the team.

Amorim Demands Reinforcements Across the Spine

According to David Ornstein, the Portuguese coach has made it clear that immediate reinforcements are needed if United are to return to elite form in the Premier League and Europe.

Amorim reportedly believes several current first-team players do not fit his tactical philosophy, and he is pushing the board to act swiftly in the market.

Goalkeeper Tops the List of Concerns

Goalkeeping is seen as the most urgent position to address. André Onana and Altay Bayındır have not fully convinced the coaching staff. Targets currently being monitored include Diogo Costa (Porto), Marco Carnesecchi (Atalanta), and Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez (Aston Villa).

Midfield Overhaul in the Works

Although Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte remain reliable, Amorim insists a physical, box-to-box midfielder is still needed. João Palhinha, currently at Fulham, has emerged as a top target and has reportedly gained internal support within the club.

A New Striker Also on the Agenda

United are also searching for an additional goalscorer, especially as the futures of Rasmus Højlund, Joshua Zirkzee, and Alejandro Garnacho remain uncertain. Amorim wants a proven finisher to complement or potentially replace the current front line.

United’s Spending Reaches €153 Million

So far, Manchester United have spent approximately €153 million in this transfer window, equivalent to R$995 million. That figure includes the acquisitions of Cunha and Mbeumo. The club has also seen two high-profile departures, including Marcus Rashford, who joined Barcelona on loan.

Rashford Departure Sparks Debate

The decision to loan out Rashford continues to divide opinion. Gary Lineker believes the forward will “thrive in Barcelona”, while Paul Pogba criticized the move, suggesting it is one United may “regret in the future.”
