Musiala Rushed to Hospital After Gruesome Injury vs. PSG; Bayern Say Donnarumma Not to Blame

Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala was immediately taken to a hospital in Atlanta after suffering a horrific injury during the German club’s 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals on Saturday night.
The terrifying moment unfolded just before halftime, when Musiala drove into the PSG penalty area and collided with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. As the Italian rushed out to smother the ball, Musiala’s ankle caught in the turf and twisted at an unnatural angle resulting in what sources describe as a broken foot.
The scene left both players and fans shaken. Donnarumma broke down in tears after realizing the extent of the injury, while Musiala lay near the corner flag receiving urgent medical attention. Moments later, he was stretchered off the field and transported directly to a local hospital.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl confirmed the hospitalization to reporters on-site, adding that the club does not place blame on Donnarumma for the incident.
“It was a game-related thing,” Eberl told ESPN. “No one is blaming the goalkeeper. These things, unfortunately, happen in football.”
Eberl also dismissed the idea that the team’s performance was affected by external conditions like heat or fatigue, saying the result came down to the match itself.
The injury cast a long shadow over PSG’s victory, which booked their place in the Club World Cup semi-finals. While goals and tactics were quickly forgotten, the focus remained squarely on Musiala’s condition and the emotional fallout from one of the tournament’s most distressing moments.
As of now, Bayern have not issued an official medical update or timeline for Musiala’s recovery but early indications suggest a long spell on the sidelines for the 21-year-old star.
