Marquinhos Reacts to PSG’s Club World Cup Final Loss: “Chelsea Were More Effective”

After Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, PSG captain Marquinhos acknowledged his team’s shortcomings and praised Chelsea’s execution. The Brazilian defender, who played the full 90 minutes, shared his thoughts in a post-match interview with CazéTV.
“Chelsea were more effective than us; they knew how to exploit the spaces and mistakes we made,” said Marquinhos.
“Scoring three early goals changed everything. They were physically stronger and more intense throughout the game.”
Despite the defeat, Marquinhos emphasized pride in PSG’s overall achievements this season.
A Historic PSG Season (Despite the Loss)
- Ligue 1 Champions
- Coupe de France Winners
- UEFA Champions League Winners
- Club World Cup Runners-up
“I’ve been in Paris for 13 years, and I’ve never experienced a season like this. Of course, we wanted this trophy, but it doesn’t erase the incredible journey we’ve had.”
What’s Next for PSG?
Despite the disappointment, PSG’s season isn’t over. The club may still compete in the Intercontinental Cup in December, facing the Copa Libertadores winner for another prestigious title.
