Manchester United’s interest in Javi Guerra intensifies

Manchester United’s interest in Spanish midfielder Javi Guerra is intensifying, but the Premier League giants face a tough battle amid the player’s loyalty to Valencia and his club’s precarious financial position.

Verbal Agreement Rumored, but Player Wants to Stay

While rumors of a verbal agreement between Guerra and United have emerged in recent days, sources in Spain suggest the move is far from complete. According to Onda Cero, the 21-year-old midfielder has made it clear that his priority is to remain at Valencia, where he has a contract until 2027.

Journalist Víctor Lluch emphasized that Guerra wants to solidify his place at Mestalla, where he is already viewed as a cornerstone in manager Rubén Baraja’s system. The midfielder is eager to grow with the team, provided he isn’t forced out due to financial circumstances.

Valencia’s Economic Struggles Could Shift Outcome

Despite Guerra’s intentions, Valencia’s ongoing financial difficulties could leave the door open for a sale. The La Liga club is reportedly open to negotiating if a suitable offer arrives with an asking price of €27 million (converted from approximately R$175 million).

To retain the midfielder, Valencia has prepared a new contract offer that would significantly boost Guerra’s salary and reflect his growing importance. A renewal could materialize if the parties agree on the first year’s terms.

United Faces Competition From Manchester City

While Manchester United keeps a close eye on Guerra’s situation, they are also exploring alternative midfield options. Sources indicate that manager Erik ten Hag is in talks with Rúben Amorim regarding one of his former Sporting CP stars.

However, Manchester City has now entered the race as well. Backed by new sporting director Hugo Viana, City is reportedly ready to activate a release clause to beat their rivals to the signing.
