Manchester United target Benjamin Sesko prefers Newcastle move and moves closer to deal

RB Leipzig striker reportedly agrees personal terms with Magpies until 2030

Benjamin Šeško is edging closer to a high-profile move to Newcastle United, as the Premier League side accelerates negotiations with the RB Leipzig striker. Despite interest from Manchester United, the Slovenian forward has reportedly signaled a strong preference for joining Eddie Howe’s squad at St. James’ Park.

Verbal agreement in place with Newcastle

According to transfer expert Nicolò Schira, Šeško, 22, has already reached a verbal agreement with Newcastle over a contract running until June 2030. The Magpies are now preparing to submit a formal offer to RB Leipzig in the coming weeks. No official bid has been presented yet, but talks are progressing rapidly.

Newcastle views Šeško as the ideal long-term replacement for Alexander Isak, who is the subject of growing interest from Liverpool and other European giants. The club’s hierarchy has made the striker a top transfer priority this summer.

Manchester United falling behind in race

While Manchester United remains keen on signing Šeško, they appear to be lagging behind in the negotiations. The Old Trafford club has been exploring striker options, particularly after limited success with Rasmus Højlund and the stalled pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee.

Despite holding talks with the player’s representatives, United has not convinced Šeško, who reportedly sees Newcastle’s project as more appealing at this stage of his career.

Transfer fee could be below €80M clause

Šeško’s current release clause is reportedly around €80 million, but sources suggest that RB Leipzig might accept an offer closer to €70 million. That’s approximately €10 million below the official valuation, giving Newcastle a potential advantage if they move swiftly.

Leipzig is said to be open to negotiations, especially if the player pushes for a move to the Premier League.

Premier League decision expected soon

A decision on Šeško’s future is expected within weeks. His priority is a Premier League move, and Newcastle’s ambition, project stability, and willingness to build around him have made their offer stand out.

Unless Manchester United makes a significantly improved proposal, Newcastle is in pole position to land one of Europe’s most promising young strikers.
