Serbian forward could return to the Premier League amid growing interest from top English clubs

Manchester United, Newcastle, and Tottenham are locked in a three-way race to sign Aleksandar Mitrović from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, according to CaughtOffside. The Serbian striker has emerged as a serious target as Premier League sides search for firepower ahead of the new season.

Old Trafford Eyes Proven Goal Scorer

Manchester United’s interest in Mitrović is long-standing, with the club reportedly tracking the striker for several months. Under new manager Rúben Amorim, the Red Devils are aiming to reshape their attacking line-up  and the 30-year-old forward fits the profile of a physical, experienced frontman.

However, Tottenham and Newcastle are also in the mix, adding competition to the negotiations. The striker’s contract with Al-Hilal runs until June 2026, and with two years remaining, the Saudi side could be open to a deal.

Newcastle’s Move Linked to Isak Exit

Newcastle’s interest in Mitrović has intensified amid growing speculation that Alexander Isak could join Liverpool. Should the Swedish striker depart, the Magpies will prioritize a like-for-like replacement. Ironically, Al-Hilal had previously targeted Isak with a lucrative salary offer now Newcastle are attempting to sign a key figure from their ranks.

Mitrović, who previously played for Newcastle between 2015 and 2018, could be a natural fit at St. James’ Park given his history with the club and Premier League experience.

Al-Hilal Paid €52.6 Million for Mitrović in 2023

The Saudi club signed Mitrović from Fulham in August 2023, during an aggressive transfer campaign. The deal cost €52.6 million (approx. R$341.78 million at the time), making him one of the highest-profile arrivals in the Saudi Pro League.

Any potential return to England is likely to involve a transfer fee, though a reduced value is possible due to the player’s age and contract length. Mitrović has scored 265 career goals, and his profile still appeals to top-flight English clubs looking for immediate impact.
