Dani Ceballos Offered to Atalanta Amid Real Madrid Overhaul Under Xabi Alonso

Spanish midfielder may leave after falling down the pecking order following Ancelotti’s exit

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has been offered to Serie A side Atalanta, as the Spanish giants continue to reshape their squad under new manager Xabi Alonso. The 28-year-old’s future has come into question following Carlo Ancelotti’s departure, which marked the beginning of a new era at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Atalanta Evaluating Ceballos as Summer Option

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Ceballos was offered to Atalanta as a potential signing for the 2025–2026 season. Initial contacts have already taken place, and the Italian club is reportedly evaluating the feasibility of a move.

Ceballos is under contract with Real Madrid until June 2027 and has an estimated market value of €10 million. Despite featuring in four matches during the Club World Cup, the Spaniard has yet to secure a consistent place in the starting lineup under Alonso.

Shift in Role Under New Management

Ceballos had been a trusted rotation player under Ancelotti, who appreciated the midfielder’s experience and technical skill. With the Italian manager now gone, the midfielder faces increased competition and uncertainty about his role under Xabi Alonso.

The Club World Cup was seen as a test, but the 28-year-old struggled to make a lasting impression. As Real Madrid prepares for the new La Liga campaign, the preseason could determine whether Ceballos stays or moves.

History with the Club and Arsenal Stint

Ceballos joined Real Madrid in 2017 from Real Betis. Between 2019 and 2021, he spent two seasons on loan at Arsenal, where he gained valuable Premier League experience. Upon his return, he played a supporting role and was viewed as a useful squad player throughout Ancelotti’s tenure.

Real Madrid’s La Liga Return Set for August 18

Despite attempting to delay their domestic league return due to Club World Cup commitments, Real Madrid will begin their La Liga campaign on August 18, facing Osasuna. The club’s request for a schedule change was denied, meaning the squad will have less than a month to recover and prepare.

The tight schedule could open opportunities for fringe players like Ceballos unless he secures a move abroad before the season begins.
