Chelsea target RB Leipzig duo Xavi Simons and Benjamin Šeško in summer transfer hunt

Chelsea are making bold moves in the transfer market this summer, reportedly closing in on a deal for Xavi Simons while also eyeing Benjamin Šeško, both of whom currently play for RB Leipzig. The Premier League side appears keen to reinforce their attacking midfield and forward options ahead of the 2025/26 season.
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, negotiations for Xavi Simons are already advancing. The Dutch international has impressed during his stint in the Bundesliga and is also being tracked by Barcelona, though Chelsea have emerged as frontrunners.
Blues Also Interested in Šeško Amid Intense Competition
While talks for Simons continue, Chelsea are also considering a move for Benjamin Šeško, one of the breakout stars of German football last season. The 22-year-old Slovenian striker scored 21 goals and provided six assists in 45 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig in 2024/25.
Šeško has drawn interest from Arsenal, but with the Gunners reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Viktor Gyökeres, a switch to Chelsea is now a more plausible option. Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the striker but are said to be prioritizing other targets like Erling Haaland, Julián Álvarez, and Alexander Isak as long-term replacements for Robert Lewandowski.
RB Leipzig Face Potential Double Blow
RB Leipzig may now face the prospect of losing two of their most valuable assets in a single window. Simons, who returned to Leipzig on loan from PSG, has a contract situation that could be leveraged by interested clubs. Meanwhile, Šeško’s contract runs until June 2029, meaning Leipzig would command a significant fee for the forward, likely upwards of €60–70 million, based on recent transfer market evaluations.
Chelsea Continue Squad Reshaping
The Stamford Bridge outfit have already added João Pedro and Liam Delap this summer, as new manager Enzo Maresca looks to reshape the squad in his image. Bringing in Simons and Šeško would represent a major injection of youth and attacking creativity as Chelsea aim to return to Champions League contention.
Fan Favorite David Luiz Nears Move Abroad
In a separate development, former Chelsea star David Luiz could be on the move again. The veteran defender is reportedly close to leaving Fortaleza for a new challenge with Pafos FC in Cyprus, marking another chapter in his globe-trotting career.
