Like Father, Like Son: Petr Čech’s Son Signs First Pro Deal with Fulham

Damian Čech follows in Chelsea legend’s footsteps as a goalkeeper

A new generation of Čech steps into the Premier League spotlight.

Damian Čech, the 16-year-old son of Chelsea icon Petr Čech, has signed his first professional contract with Fulham FC, marking a major milestone in the young goalkeeper’s career. The club announced the deal this week, confirming Damian’s long-term future with the London side.

A Promising Talent With Big Gloves to Fill

Just like his father, Damian plays between the posts. After spending time in Chelsea’s youth system, the teenage shot-stopper switched to Fulham last season, where he impressed with his composure and athleticism.

Damian has already made his debut for the Czech Republic U-18 national team and is regarded as one of the brightest goalkeeping prospects in his age group.

Petr Čech: Chelsea’s Goalkeeping Great

Petr Čech is widely considered one of the greatest goalkeepers in Premier League history. During 11 seasons at Chelsea, he made 495 appearances, winning:

  • 1x UEFA Champions League
  • 4x Premier League titles
  • 4x FA Cups
  • 3x League Cups
  • 1x Europa League

His calm demeanor, sharp reflexes, and iconic headgear made him a club legend and a fan favorite.

Family of Athletes

Athleticism runs deep in the Čech household. After retiring from football, Petr Čech transitioned to ice hockey, becoming a goaltender for the Oxford City Stars. Damian also played ice hockey in his early years, even suiting up for Guildford Phoenix.

Adding to the family’s sporting pedigree, Damian’s sister Adéla Čechová is a rising footballer herself, having debuted for the Czech Republic U-17 women’s national team in February.

Chelsea Eyes World Title Without the Čech Name

While Damian writes his own story with Fulham, his father’s former club Chelsea is preparing for a major international showdown. The Blues will face Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final this Sunday (13) at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. (Brasília time) as Chelsea aims to claim its second world title this time, without a Čech in goal.
