Bayern Munich makes counter-offer to Tottenham to negotiate permanent contract with João Palhinha

Bayern Munich have rejected Tottenham Hotspur’s loan approach for midfielder João Palhinha and are demanding a €25 million permanent transfer, according to German outlet Sport Bild.

The Portuguese international, who was signed by the Bavarians for €51 million, has struggled to establish himself at the Allianz Arena, playing just 986 minutes across 25 appearances under manager Vincent Kompany.

Tottenham Interested in Palhinha Return to Premier League

Tottenham, led by manager Thomas Frank, have identified Palhinha as a priority midfield target this summer and were initially exploring a loan with option to buy structure. However, Bayern’s leadership spearheaded by Max Eberl are only entertaining outright sales and are prepared to accept a significant loss on the 29-year-old.

Despite a difficult spell in Germany, Palhinha remains highly regarded in England due to his previous standout performances with Fulham, where he earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s best ball-winning midfielders.

Player Open to Offers Despite Desire to Stay

Palhinha reportedly wants to fight for his place at Bayern, but sources close to the club suggest he would consider leaving if a high-level proposal arrives particularly from clubs like Tottenham, Manchester United, or even Inter Milan, all of whom are monitoring the situation.

Bayern’s willingness to part with the Portuguese midfielder for €25 million opens the door for negotiations, especially with Tottenham seeking reinforcements ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Inter Milan Also Monitoring Situation

In addition to English interest, Inter Milan runners-up in last season’s UEFA Champions League have also expressed admiration for Palhinha. While no formal offer has been submitted, the Italian club views him as a valuable addition to their midfield rotation.

With the transfer window heating up and Bayern eager to trim their squad, Palhinha’s future could be decided in the coming days, especially if Spurs or United are willing to meet the Bavarians’ asking price.
