Barcelona Set to Offload Christensen, Iñaki Peña, and Pau Víctor to Register Rashford

In a move to register new signing Marcus Rashford, FC Barcelona is preparing to offload three squad members: Andreas Christensen, Iñaki Peña, and Pau Víctor, according to reports from Fichajes. The departures are necessary for the club to comply with La Liga’s financial fair play regulations.

La Liga Rule Forces Barcelona to Sell

Barcelona is currently bound by La Liga’s Rule 1.1, which restricts clubs from spending more on player wages than their current financial income permits. In order to finalize the registration of Rashford recently acquired from Manchester United the Catalan club must first reduce its wage bill.

The most significant expected sale is Christensen, whose high salary is seen as a primary obstacle. His departure alone could bring major relief to Barça’s payroll and allow space for Rashford’s inclusion in the squad.

Potential Destinations for Departing Players

  • Christensen has attracted interest both from La Liga clubs and Saudi Arabian teams, with his current market value estimated at €13 million (R$77 million).
  • Iñaki Peña, the backup goalkeeper, is also being linked with a move within Spanish football, though specific clubs have not been named.
  • Pau Víctor, who has limited appearances with the senior squad, is reportedly being pursued by Valencia, with a deal expected to bring in a modest fee while easing salary expenses.

Barcelona hopes to raise around €40 million (R$260 million) from the sale of the trio, which would allow the registration of Rashford and potentially create room for other reinforcements.

Other Names Could Still Exit

While the club focuses on trimming the squad, other high-profile players such as Ronald Araújo and Gavi have also drawn interest. However, those departures are seen as unlikely, as both players have expressed a desire to remain at Camp Nou.

Barcelona Still Eyeing Rodrygo, But Price a Problem

Meanwhile, Barcelona has expressed informal interest in Rodrygo from Real Madrid. However, the Merengue club has set a valuation well beyond Barça’s financial reach, making a transfer unlikely unless further significant sales are completed.

Rashford and Joan García Lead Barcelona’s Summer Business

If no additional moves are made, Barcelona’s transfer window will likely conclude with Marcus Rashford and goalkeeper Joan García as the primary additions to new manager Hansi Flick’s squad.
