Roma’s complaint against former player Zaniolo

Roma accuses former player Zaniolo of provocations in the Giallorosso dressing room and of assaulting two of their players.

Zaniolo urinated in the facilities reserved for Roma, provoked the players and, without any verbal exchange, physically hit Mattia Almaviva and violently pushed Marco Litti.

“Nicolo Zaniolo (a Fiorentina first team player) illegally entered the Roma dressing room, accompanied by an acquaintance, despite not having accreditation. According to witnesses, Zaniolo appeared visibly agitated. He urinated in the facilities reserved for Roma, provoked the players and, without any verbal exchange, physically hit Mattia Almaviva and violently pushed Marco Litti against a bench. Litti was recovering from shoulder surgery. Both players were hospitalized: Almaviva was given a 10-day prognosis, Litti, 21 days,” Roma said in a statement reproduced by the newspaper ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ .

Zaniolo claims that “they started insulting me” and acknowledges that “I reacted badly and I accept responsibility.”

Fiorentina denies Roma’s version and maintains that Zaniolo, who is owned by Galatasaray, explained that “at the end of the match, I went down to the locker room to congratulate the Fiorentina boys and then I went to the Roma locker room to greet them and congratulate them on the season, but at one point they started insulting me, so, to avoid the situation getting worse, I preferred to leave.”

“I want to apologize for what happened. I know I reacted badly and I take responsibility. I went to the locker room with the goal of supporting the boys (Roma) in a difficult moment after the defeat. Unfortunately, one of them verbally provoked me and I lost my cool,” the 25-year-old Italian footballer said.
