Verona draws with Lecce in Serie A
The 1-1 at the Bentegodi allows Hellas to maintain, with two games to go, a 5-point advantage over the third-last Salento and Tuscan teams

VERONA – At the Marcantonio Bentegodi stadium in Verona, the direct clash for salvation between Hellas and Lecce ended with a score of 1-1 . The Salento team broke the deadlock with Krstovic after 24 minutes of play, while Coppola’s goal, in the 41st minute, brought the tie-breaking result for the Verona team. With this point, with two days to go in the championship, Paolo Zanetti’s men ‘mortgage’ their participation in next season’s Serie A , strong with 33 points in the standings , a good five more than today’s rivals, Marco Giampaolo’s Giallorossi, and Roberto D’Aversa’s Empoli, tied for third-last place. There were moments of fear around the 65th minute : following a violent aerial collision at full speed with Mosquera, the Giallorossi defender Gaspar collapsed to the ground, unconscious . Immediately helped by his teammates and the Salento medical staff, he promptly got up, even if a little dazed. The game resumed regularly, but Gaspar, also due to the consequences of the fall (weight on the right shoulder), was forced to leave the field a few minutes later, replaced by Tiago Gabriel.
Verona-Lecce 1-1, the match report
It all happens in the first half : Lecce breaks the deadlock midway through the first half with Krstovic, well served by Tete Morente. For the Salento striker, it is the eleventh goal in the championship, which makes him one of the possible market men of this summer. The approach of Zanetti’s team is too soft, but they still manage to equalize before the break thanks to a winning header by Coppola following a free kick taken by Suslov. In the second half, the game heats up , with the Scaligeri dangerous with Serdar and Coppola again. Lecce responds with Banda who however literally misses an open-net goal on an assist by Pierotti.
