Saint-étienne loses to Toulouse and returns to Ligue 2
AS Saint-Etienne will play in Ligue 2 next season! Despite a strong showing, the Saint-Etienne club lost to Toulouse (2-3) this Saturday during the 34th matchday of Ligue 1.

In a great atmosphere at Geoffroy-Guichard, the Greens came close to a penalty shootout when Appiah came back into his own area to save his team from a Magri cross! And on a pass from Gboho, Kamanzi calmed the Saint-Etienne fans by wiping out Appiah before adjusting Larsonneur (0-1, 10th). In the tough situation, ASSE struggled to react and sank in the process against King, who scored with a placed shot (0-2, 16th). A cold shower…
Saint-Etienne were clearly in a nightmare situation, losing Moueffek to injury. Cardona headed a free-kick to try and get his team back on track, but it hit the bar! Before the break, Tardieu gave Saint-Etienne hope with a lovely half-volley from the edge of the box to beat Restes (1-2, 38th). The goal to get things back on track? Restes had to work hard to stop a Davitashvili volley before Magri lost a duel in front of Larsonneur.
After halftime, Saint-Etienne lost another player to injury, Bernauer. Very quickly, Sierro came close to extinguishing Saint-Etienne’s hopes with a long-range shot that was cleared by Larsonneur onto the post! With space available, the two teams traded blows with dangerous situations… And this unbridled play benefited TFC, who took the lead with a Gboho pivot shot (1-3, 58th).
But ASSE had heart! From a Davitashvili cross, Batubinsika got his team back on track with a header, surging through the air (2-3, 63rd). Larsonneur then performed a miracle by pushing away a Kamanzi header from close range! Physically worn out, the Greens struggled to get going in the final minutes and were officially relegated to Ligue 2…
