The end of an era at Real Madrid ! Luka Modric , one of the best players in the history of the Merengues and world football, announced this Thursday that he will say goodbye to Los Blancos after the Club World Cup .
On social media, the midfielder left a long message. The Croatian international will say goodbye to the Bernabéu on Saturday, when he hosts Real Sociedad , counting towards the 38th and final matchday of LaLiga .
“The moment has arrived. The moment I never wanted to arrive, but that’s football. In life, everything has a beginning and an end. On Saturday, I will play my last match at the Bernabéu. I arrived in 2012 with the hope of wearing the jersey of the best team in the world and with the ambition of winning great things, but I could not have imagined what was to come,” he wrote.
“Over the years I have experienced incredible moments, comebacks that seemed impossible, finals, celebrations and magical nights at the Bernabéu. We won everything and I was very happy. (…) I leave with a full heart. Full of pride, gratitude and memories. And although after the Club World Cup I will no longer wear this jersey on the pitch, I will always be a Real Madrid fan. We will meet again. Real Madrid will always be my home. For life,” he added.
In 13 seasons in Madrid, Modric won six UEFA Champions Leagues , four LaLiga titles, five Club World Cups, four Spanish Super Cups, five European Super Cups, two Copa del Rey titles and one Intercontinental Cup. He also won the Ballon d’Or.
