Everton beats Southampton in the penultimate round of the Premier League
Victory marks farewell to Goodison Park, which will host women’s football matches next season

TRIUMPH IN A FAREWELL ATMOSPHERE
Everton beat Southampton 2-0 on Sunday. The victory in the 37th round of the Premier League saw two goals from Ndiaye and marked the men’s team’s last match at Goodison Park. The result does not affect the league table positions: the home team remains in 13th place, with 45 points, and the visitors are already relegated, with 12 points.
CHANGE IN PROGRESS
Everton v Southampton was Everton’s last senior game at Goodison Park after a 132-year partnership. The club had initially planned to demolish the stadium and move to the more modern Everton Stadium, which cost £800 million. Plans changed on 13th March, with Goodison set to host Everton women’s matches from next season.
THE MAN OF THE MATCH
Iliman Ndiaye was the star of the show on Sunday. The number 10 scored both goals of the match, one in the fifth minute and the other in injury time. First, he stole the ball in the middle, accelerated into the box and crossed the ball into Ramsdale’s corner to open the scoring. To close the game, the team worked the ball from foot to foot in the midfield. McNeil carried the ball through the center of the field and passed it deep for Ndiaye to enter the area unmarked, dribble past the goalkeeper and extend the lead before the end of the first half.
