Cruzeiro beats Fortaleza away from home and establishes itself in the fight for leadership

Cruzeiro beat Fortaleza 2-0 this Sunday at Arena Castelão in the 10th round of Série A, and moved up to third place with 20 points. Palmeiras leads with 22, and Flamengo is second with 21. The goals were scored by Kaio Jorge and Lucas Silva. Fortaleza is 16th with 10 points and is close to the Z-4. After being eliminated by Retrô in the Copa do Brasil, Vojvoda’s team remains without a reaction

With the goal, Kaio Jorge reached six goals scored in Série A. Arrascaeta leads, with eight, and Vegetti, from Vasco, has seven.
First half
The first half was dominated by Cruzeiro. João Ricardo had to work three times in a row right at the beginning. Kaiki and Kaio Jorge also had chances to score. The numbers speak volumes. After 30 minutes of play, Cruzeiro had nine shots on goal; Fortaleza had none. Until the visitors started to be effective. They scored with Kaio Jorge and then with Lucas Silva. Fortaleza was booed at half-time.
Second half
At the beginning of the second half, Fortaleza showed a different attitude, trying to threaten more. Pikachu took a chance in the 18th minute, the ball deflected and went out. Lucero tried with his head, and Cássio made the save. To give you an idea, it was Cássio’s first great save in the game. In the 29th minute, Kaio Jorge shot, and João Ricardo held on in one of the few chances the Minas Gerais team had in the second half. In the 37th minute, Pedro Augusto was sent off and Leão ended the game with one less player.

On Sunday, they face Flamengo, at Maracanã, for the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship, at 6:30 pm. On Wednesday, Cruzeiro faces Unión Santa Fe, at Mineirão, at 9:30 pm, for the sixth round of the South American. On Sunday, they host Palmeiras at 7:30 pm for round 11 of Série A.
