Cerro Porteno beats Sporting Cristal in CONMEBOL Libertadores and approaches the place in the round of 16

On Tuesday (May 13), Cerro Porteño beat Sporting Cristal 1-0 at Nacional de Lima, Peru, in the fifth round of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores. Thus, the Paraguayan team is close to securing the second spot in Group G, since Palmeiras had already secured qualification and also the leadership of the group.

In short, Verdão leads the group with ease, with 12 points and one game less. Cerro reached eight points with the victory, while Sporting Cristal is in third place, with five points.

To give you an idea, the Peruvians will visit Verdão in the next round, at Allianz Parque. Therefore, they need to beat Alviverde by a landslide and hope that Cerro is defeated by Bolívar, in Bolivia, to qualify.

Finally, it is worth highlighting that, before that, Palmeiras will host Bolívar at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo, this Thursday (May 15), at 7 pm (Brasília time), for the fifth round.
