Ceará SC beats Sport Recife in the Brasileirão
Vozão reaches fifth place after beating Leão 2-0 this Saturday, with goals from Lucas Mugni and Galeano, one in each half of the game

Summary
Ceará was deadly against Sport. Taking advantage of the weakness of the team from Pernambuco and its strength playing as the home team, Vozão did not play a great game on Saturday afternoon at Castelão, but knew how to take advantage of the opportunities it had to beat Leão, 2-0, and get closer to the fight for the G-4 of the Brazilian Championship. The goals in the black and white victory over the red and black team, bottom of the competition, were scored by Lucas Mugni and Galeano, one in each half of the match. It was Ceará’s fourth victory in five games as the home team in Série A.
Upcoming appointments
Ceará will return to the field next Thursday, when they will visit Palmeira, at Allianz Parque, in the first leg of the third phase of the Copa do Brasil. Sport will play next Sunday, at 4 pm, at Ilha do Retiro, when they will host Internacional.
Worst campaign in history
With yet another setback, Sport equaled the worst campaign in the club’s history in the Brazilian Championship. In 1973, the club needed ten matches to win its first game – there were six defeats and three draws. Currently, Sport has seven defeats in nine games, that is, worse. 52 years ago, the victory came in the tenth game, when the team beat Moto Club-MA, 2-0, away from home.
First half
Ceará and Sport played a balanced first half, with Leão finishing more often (8 x 3), but with the home team being more efficient. Modified, with a three-defender system, the red-and-black team could not resist a throw-in. After Fabiano Souza threw the ball into the area with his hands, Chico made a poor cut and Lucas Mugni, with his first touch, scored a beautiful goal in the 8th minute. It was Vozão’s only good chance in the half. Sport, in turn, had Barletta as its sharpest player, with shots in the 3rd, 11th and 39th minutes, all of which were well saved by Fernando Miguel (and one shot, in the 13th minute, went wide). Leão’s best chance, however, came in the 48th minute: Hereda went to the baseline and crossed perfectly for Zé Lucas to appear at speed in the area and, alone, shoot over. The partial victory for Alvinegro was assured.
Second half
Vozão was once again more efficient than Sport in the final stage. Although Leão showed greater initiative in the game, circling the opponent’s area but without being incisive, it was Ceará who came out strong in attack. In the 15th minute, a precise pass from Dieguinho behind the red-black defense, Galeano entered the area with freedom and shot Caíque França’s goal: 2-0. In the 19th minute, Lucas Lima kicked hard towards the goal. The ball curved and Fernando Miguel made a great save. Behind on the scoreboard, red-black coach António Oliveira made many changes to the team, but they did not result in a reaction. More organized, Vozão carried the victory with ease until the final whistle.
