A year and a half and 50 games later, Red Star lost again in the Serbian League, but maintains an unmatched record as a home team

PSG remains in the fight for invincibility in European football

With 24 wins and six draws in 30 Ligue 1 rounds , PSG continue to dream of a place in the history of European football, but until last Wednesday they were not the only team trying to do so. More than 1,500 kilometers away, Red Star were five games away from finishing the Serbian league without defeat when they were surprised by Rdnicki Kragujevac (1-4).

The defeat to the current fifth-placed team in the Serbian League was, in fact, the club’s first in the competition since hosting Partizan on December 21, 2023. 490 days, 49 games and 46 wins later, the Belgrade club lost again with a bang.

Red Star have now won their eighth consecutive Serbian championship, having won 29 of the 32 matches they have played so far in this season’s competition. Despite the negative result, one of the most impressive records in European football still belongs to the 1990/91 European champions.

In games valid for the Serbian League, Red Star have not lost at home since April 30, 2017, again in a duel against Partizan . The 148 games without tasting defeat set a record that will be difficult to achieve in the future.

In the last five editions of the Serbian championship, Red Star were crowned champions without defeats in 2022/23 and 2020/21.
