Deal done: Carlo Ancelotti to be Brazil’s next coach
The Italian sealed the deal on Monday that will take him to the ‘canarinha’ in June. The end of a long 30-year club career

The months-long courtship will finally lead to marriage: Carlo Ancelotti will be the next Brazil coach, succeeding Dorival Júnior in the role. Over the last few weeks, the Brazilian Football Confederation considered moving forward with Jorge Jesus, a Portuguese coach at Al Hilal and a key player at Flamengo, but the choice ultimately fell on Carlo Ancelotti and, according to Marca, the agreement with the Italian is complete.
The challenge of leading the ‘canarinha’ to the sixth World Cup , next year, was strong enough to convince the experienced Italian coach to put an end to a long 30-year career at various clubs. He started at Reggiana, in 1995, and from there he followed with Parma , Juventus , Milan , Chelsea , PSG , Real Madrid (twice), Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton .
The negotiations were led by Diego Fernandes, an emissary from the CBF who travelled to Madrid to negotiate with Ancelotti and finalise the agreement after the match against Arsenal, in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, and the match against Barcelona, in the Copa del Rey final, last Saturday in Seville.
The ‘merengues” plummet at the time, with their European elimination and yet another defeat at the feet of the Catalans, were the ‘final straw’ for Carletto to finally decide to embrace the new project from June onwards.
