Israeli to become first transgender referee in international match
Sapir Berman to referee Kazakhstan vs Montenegro in UEFA European Women’s Under-17 qualifying

Israeli Sapir Berman, 30, will become the first transgender referee to officiate an official international match.
The referee will make history on Monday, in the match between Kazakhstan and Montenegro in the qualifiers for the European Women’s Under-17 Championship, which will take place in Northern Ireland.
Sapir Berman was already the first female referee to referee games in the Israeli League, having made her debut in the competition at the age of 26, before admitting her desire to change gender.
In October, a documentary about Sapir Berman’s life story received a journalism award in Israel.
