Bayern earns almost €500m from… teddy bear
German giant launches special limited edition to mark 125 years of existence… 1250 units ‘flew’ in just a few hours

A money-making machine! Bayern Munich is celebrating its 125th anniversary and has put a limited edition teddy bear created specifically for the occasion on sale… for the modest sum of 340 euros.
Whoever purchased it received the teddy bear, 35 centimetres tall and dressed in a Bayern jersey, in special packaging, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the president of the Bavarian club, Herbert Hainer.
Only 1,250 copies of the teddy bear were put up for sale… and they sold out in just a few hours! The result: a profit of 436,250 euros! The success of the initiative could lead the German club to put more units up for sale. Steiff, the factory where Bayern ‘s teddy bear was produced , usually sells them for a maximum of 100 euros…
