Tiago Margarido posted in Spain

The victory against FC Porto (2-0) helped to put the international spotlight on Tiago Margarido. The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo highlights the work done by the young coach at Nacional and points him to the same path of international success as Ruben Amorim and José Mourinho.

The same newspaper recovers previous statements by Tiago Margarido in which he defends the investment in young coaches and recalls his entry into the profession from an academic perspective.

The young coach began his career as head coach in 2019/2020 at Canelas 2010 , which he led to the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Cup , at just 30 years old. After three years at Vila Nova de Gaia, Margarido jumped in 2022/2023 to Varzim SC, with whom he eliminated Sporting from the Prova Rainha.

The following season, the Porto native headed to Madeira to return Nacional to the top tier of Portuguese football and is currently the second youngest coach in the competition, only surpassed by João Pereira from Casa Pia (32 years old).

The Madeirans start the second half of the season in 14th place, with a one-point advantage over the playoff spot. Tiago Margarido’s team continues to prepare for Sunday’s challenge against AFS, now without Adrián Butzke .

The Spanish forward terminated his contract with Nacional and headed to his home country to represent Mirandés, on loan from Vitória de Guimarães .
