Nainggolan arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking

Radja Nainggolan, a midfielder who has played for Inter and Roma and is currently playing for Lokeren-Temse, in the Belgian 2nd division, was arrested in Brussels on suspicion of drug trafficking.

De Telegraaf writes that the Belgian international was detained as part of an investigation into the importation of cocaine from South America to Europe, after carrying out around 30 searches.

«The investigation concerns suspected facts of importation of cocaine from South America to Europe, through the port of Antwerp, and its redistribution in Belgium», informed the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office, adding: «We can confirm that the footballer RN was arrested. As the interrogations are ongoing, no further comments will be made at this stage.’

The same newspaper highlights that the footballer’s car was seized following searches carried out this Monday in Antwerp.

The publication recalls that this will not be Nainggolan’s first association with cocaine trafficking cases, given that in the past one of his partners in a private jet company was convicted of smuggling drugs on private jets for the terrorist organization Hezbollah.
