Controversy: VAR warned, but Cucurella’s hair pulling escaped red
The referee’s decision not to send off David Brooks gave rise to talk

Chelsea drew with Bournemouth (2-2), in the 21st round of the Premier League , a match that was marked by a controversial move, involving David Brooks and Marc Cucurella .
It all happened in the 51st minute, when the score was 1-1. In a dispute without the ball, the Welsh winger pulled the hair of the Blues ‘ Spanish defender , which led to VAR intervention, who suggested viewing the images to referee Robert Jones, as he was subject to a red card.
However, after reviewing the incident, the referee considered it to be a reckless action on the part of the Bournemouth player, and not violent conduct, opting to give him a yellow card instead of sending him off.
The decision — the first time that a VAR suggestion has been rejected by the match referee in the Premier League — caused controversy at Chelsea, who argued that the opponent should have been reduced to 10 units.
“When there is no intention to play the ball, it is a red. When he gives a yellow, it means something has happened. How can you judge that it is not dangerous? You cannot judge that it is not dangerous. The intention is only to hit Marc Cucurella. In my opinion, it is a red. I hope we can have better luck with the referee in the future,” said coach Enzo Maresca.
