Kosovo players leave the field before the game ends in Romania in the Nations League
In injury time, with the score at 0-0, there was confusion on the pitch. Romanian fans began chanting: “Serbia! Serbia! Serbia!”. Kosovars decided to leave immediately.
Another controversial moment in European football in this Nations League . Kosovo players walked off the pitch at the National Arena in Bucharest, where they were playing Romania , following what they considered to be offensive chants from the home fans.
The injury time was already underway and the score remained 0-0 when, following a more aggressive tackle, huge confusion arose between players from both teams on the pitch.
Immediately, at one of the tops of the stadium where a Serbian flag had already been visible, the Romanian fans began to chant: “Serbia! Serbia! Serbia!” The Kosovar players immediately began to pull each other off the pitch, which they did.
The game has been suspended and there is still no information on when the final minutes will be played. It should be remembered that Kosovo needed to win to continue fighting for promotion to League B of the Nations League. A draw would suit Romania, who lead the group with 12 points, against the Kosovars’ 9 – who, if they drew, would be three points behind the Romanians, with only one game left to play and, even if they caught up with their opponent at the top of the Group C2 standings, they would lose in the tiebreaker, as in the previous round, Romania went to Kosovo and won 3-0.
