Atlético Madrid expels fan who threw objects at Courtois
The ‘Colchonero’ club assures that it continues to work with the Police to identify the remaining fans responsible for the acts that led to the interruption of the match with Real Madrid
After a person was identified who threw objects at Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois – during the Madrid derby – Atlético de Madrid were quick to react. This Monday, Spanish newspaper Marca revealed that the Colchonero club had proceeded with the “permanent” expulsion of the fan who was identified by the police authorities.
In addition to this sanction, the club coached by Diego Simeone ensures that it “continues to work with the Police to identify the others involved in throwing objects such as lighters”, so it is expected that they will receive the same punishment.
It should be noted that Atlético de Madrid had already issued a statement in the early hours of Monday condemning the acts that began in the 68th minute of the match against Real Madrid .
“These attitudes have no place in football and tarnish the image of a stadium that experienced a spectacular atmosphere with more than 70,000 spectators in its stands,” the statement read.
