Manchester newspaper criticizes Rúben Amorim for Man United’s lineup: ‘He gave Tottenham a goal’

Traditional Manchester newspaper, the Manchester Evening News criticized the Portuguese’s choice to start with Mason Mount and Luke Shaw in the starting line-up.

The outlet, which traditionally grades players and coaches after games, rated Amorim a “4” , one of the worst among all those who played in the European final.

“He made a mistake by bringing on Mount over Garnacho. Shaw’s strategic choice gave Tottenham a goal. It took him too long to replace him,” the newspaper wrote.

Mount, in turn, was the most criticized by the vehicle and received a score of “5” . “Mount didn’t do anything notable all night… (Garnacho) did more in the first few minutes than Mount did in 70.”

As was Shaw, who was at fault for Spurs ‘ goal , scored by Brennan Johnson late in the first half. “(Shaw) should not have started and somehow stayed (on the pitch).”

With the runner-up finish, the Red Devils will not play in any European competition next season, as they are 16th in the Premier League , with one round remaining in the championship. Tottenham, in turn, earned a place in the Champions League with the continental title.
