The INEOS revolution at Manchester United is entering its most ruthless phase. As the club looks to slash its massive wage bill, long-standing stars Harry Maguire and Casemiro are reportedly heading for the exit door this summer as free agents.

Despite a resurgence in form under Michael Carrick, Harry Maguire’s time at Old Trafford appears to be drawing to a close. With his contract set to expire in June 2026, reports from journalist Peter Hall suggest that United officials have decided against a renewal.

While recent rumours hinted at Maguire’s willingness to take a pay cut to stay, the board seems intent on a fresh start. Having joined for a record-breaking fee in 2019, the 32-year-old defender is now attracting interest from several Serie A clubs, including AC Milan and AS Roma, as he prepares to become a free agent for the first time in his career.

Casemiro Leads the Exodus

Maguire isn’t the only high-earner leaving. Midfielder Casemiro has already confirmed his departure, bringing an end to his four-year spell in Manchester. The Brazilian, who is the squad’s highest earner, opted not to trigger a contract extension, freeing up significant funds for United’s summer recruitment plans.

Jadon Sancho and the “Financial Reset”

The overhaul doesn’t stop with the veterans. Jadon Sancho, currently on loan at Aston Villa, is also expected to leave permanently in June. United are reportedly unlikely to activate the 12-month extension in his deal, allowing him to move on as they prioritise a “financial reset” under the new hierarchy.

By offloading these high-profile salaries, Manchester United aims to reinvest over £200 million in younger talents, with names like Lewis Hall and Adam Wharton already linked with a move to M16.
