Napoli are increasingly open to negotiating Kevin De Bruyne’s departure as early as January, with Saudi Arabia identified as the most viable destination for the Belgian midfielder. Just months after arriving in Italy, De Bruyne’s future at the club is already in doubt.
The 34-year-old joined Napoli at the start of the season after ending a long and successful spell at Manchester City, attracted by what was presented as an ambitious sporting project. However, his stint in Serie A has not gone according to plan.
Injury Problems Undermine De Bruyne’s Napoli Spell
Napoli’s hierarchy is reportedly disappointed with De Bruyne’s impact so far. Persistent muscle injuries have severely limited his availability, preventing him from establishing rhythm or consistency in the squad.
As a result, club executives no longer see the Belgian as an untouchable player for the remainder of the season, prompting internal discussions about a possible transfer during the winter window.
Saudi Arabia Seen as Ideal Exit Route
According to Il Mattino di Napoli, the club is willing to listen to offers for De Bruyne, but only if they come from Saudi Arabian clubs. Napoli believe the Middle East represents the most realistic option, both financially and strategically, given the player’s age and injury history.
While Napoli are open to negotiations, expectations of a major profit are low. The priority is to reduce wage commitments and move forward with players capable of contributing immediately.
No Concrete Offers on the Table Yet
At this stage, no formal offers have been submitted for De Bruyne. The midfielder is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and is not expected to return to action until March, which further complicates any immediate transfer talks.
This season, De Bruyne has made just 11 appearances for Napoli, registering four goals and two assists—numbers that fall short of the club’s expectations given his profile and experience.
Future Unclear as January Window Approaches
With the January transfer window approaching, Napoli’s stance is clear: they are open to an early exit for Kevin De Bruyne if the right opportunity arises, and Saudi Arabia is firmly at the top of the list.
