Bernardo Silva’s future at Manchester City is increasingly uncertain, and while Benfica dream of bringing him back, the Portuguese midfielder could be heading in a very different direction. Galatasaray have now emerged as serious contenders to sign the City star ahead of next season.

At 31 years old, Silva is approaching the final months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, which expires in June, and talks over a renewal have yet to begin.

Manchester City Departure Becoming More Likely

Within City circles, there is growing expectation that Bernardo Silva could follow a similar path to Kevin De Bruyne, who recently left the club on a free transfer after failing to agree a contract extension.

Despite remaining an important squad member, the lack of negotiations has fueled speculation that the Portuguese international’s time in Manchester may be coming to an end.

Benfica Face New Competition for Their Former Star

Benfica, the club where Bernardo Silva was developed, have been working behind the scenes to convince him to return to the Estádio da Luz. However, their plans are now complicated by interest from Saudi Arabian clubs and, more recently, Galatasaray.

According to Portuguese journalist Pedro Almeida, the Turkish giants made initial contact on Wednesday (07/01) to explore a potential move.

Galatasaray Target Free Transfer Deal

Galatasaray’s strategy is clear: secure Bernardo Silva on a free transfer by agreeing a pre-contract ahead of the summer window. The club sees the City midfielder as a statement signing capable of elevating their squad domestically and in Europe.

That said, due to the volume of interest, Silva and his representatives are expected to delay any final decision until the end of the European season, allowing them to evaluate all offers on the table.

Focus Remains on City and Portugal

For now, Bernardo Silva remains fully focused on Manchester City and the Portuguese national team, with the 2026 World Cup firmly in his sights. This season, he has made 32 appearances, contributing two goals and three assists across competitions.

Salary and Market Value Could Shape His Decision

Despite his age, Silva continues to hold significant market value. According to Transfermarkt, he is currently valued at €27 million, while reports indicate he earns around £15.6 million per year at Manchester City.

Aware that a move away from the Premier League could mean accepting a lower salary, the midfielder is in no rush to commit, preferring to wait for the most attractive sporting and financial project.
