Kane gives Bayern Munich victory over Chelsea in their Champions League opener

Harry Kane struck twice as Bayern Munich defeated Chelsea 3-1 in their Champions League debut, capitalizing on costly errors from the London side.
Bayern punishes Chelsea mistakes
The German champions opened the scoring after just 20 minutes when Trevoh Chalobah deflected Michael Olise’s cross into his own net. Minutes later, Marc Cucurella misplaced a pass that allowed Moisés Caicedo to lose possession, leading to Kane being brought down inside the box. The English striker calmly converted from the spot to double Bayern’s lead.
Chelsea’s brief response through Palmer
Despite the setback, Chelsea responded almost immediately. Cole Palmer found the net just two minutes after Kane’s penalty, giving the Blues hope of a comeback. However, Vincent Kompany’s Bayern side quickly regained control, dominating possession and limiting Chelsea’s attacking opportunities.
Kane seals it with a second goal
In the 63rd minute, Chelsea’s defense faltered again, leaving Kane unmarked. The forward made no mistake, scoring his second of the night and sealing a 3-1 victory for Bayern Munich.
Pedro Neto’s forgettable debut night
For Chelsea, it was an especially disappointing evening given Pedro Neto’s first Champions League start for the club. The Portuguese winger struggled to make an impact as the Blues failed to cope with Bayern’s high pressing and clinical finishing.
