Zubimendi brace inspires Arsenal to 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates

Arsenal cruised to a 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Matchday 4 of the Premier League, with Martín Zubimendi stealing the spotlight. The Spanish midfielder scored twice a spectacular volley in the first half and a precise header in the second securing the first brace of his professional career and earning Player of the Match honors.

Arsenal Dominant From the Start

Mikel Arteta’s men dictated the tempo from the opening whistle, overwhelming a Forest side that never found their rhythm. Mikel Merino had the game’s first clear chance in the 6th minute, only to be denied by goalkeeper Matz Sels. Moments later, Arsenal suffered a setback when Martin Ødegaard fell awkwardly on his shoulder and was forced off after 16 minutes, replaced by Ethan Nwaneri.

Despite losing their captain early, the Gunners continued to press forward. Their persistence paid off in the 31st minute: after a series of corners, Noni Madueke’s cross was only partially cleared, and the ball fell to Zubimendi, who unleashed a stunning volley from the edge of the box to break the deadlock.

Forest’s defensive anchor Murillo then exited with an injury, further weakening the visitors before halftime, which ended 1-0.

Gyökeres Doubles the Lead

Arsenal wasted no time after the restart. Just one minute into the second half, Riccardo Calafiori launched a pinpoint ball into the box. Eberechi Eze controlled it with composure, setting up Viktor Gyökeres, who tapped home his second league goal of the campaign to make it 2-0.

Forest nearly pulled one back when Chris Wood brought down a cross and fired on target, but David Raya produced a brilliant fingertip save to push the ball onto the crossbar.

Zubimendi Seals the Win

With Arsenal in complete control, the Emirates awaited the final flourish. It came in the 77th minute, when Leandro Trossard delivered a perfectly weighted cross to the far post, where Zubimendi rose high to nod home his second goal of the match.

The brace not only sealed the 3-0 victory but also highlighted Zubimendi’s growing importance in Arteta’s system, proving that goals can come from anywhere in this well-drilled Arsenal side.
