Bayern Munich make €35 million offer for Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal reject offer

Bayern Munich reportedly approached Gabriel Martinelli with a €35 million (R$221 million) bid, but Arsenal turned down the offer. The Brazilian winger was considered as a Plan B for Colombian star Luis Díaz, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Martinelli Happy at Arsenal

Despite interest from the Bundesliga giants, Martinelli expressed his contentment at Arsenal and declined to leave the club. Arsenal’s board also deemed Bayern’s bid insufficient, believing the winger’s potential far exceeded the proposed fee, and promptly ended negotiations.

Bayern Targets Luis Díaz Instead

With Martinelli unavailable, Bayern Munich shifted focus to Luis Díaz, securing the Colombian for €70 million (R$442 million) on a contract running until June 2030. Martinelli’s rejection cleared the path for Díaz to become the key signing in Bavaria this transfer window.

Musiala’s Injury Sparks Transfer Search

Bayern Munich sought reinforcements following Jamal Musiala’s fibula fracture during the Club World Cup, which is expected to keep him out until mid-2026. In addition to Martinelli, Bayern explored Marco Asensio (PSG) and Fábio Vieira (Arsenal). While Asensio was favored by coach Vincent Kompany for his experience, the deal fell through due to salary incompatibility.

Serge Gnabry Steps Up

Bayern’s decision to avoid a rushed signing has proven effective. Serge Gnabry has taken over Musiala’s role this season, delivering four appearances, one goal, and three assists in German competitions so far.

Bayern Munich Leads Bundesliga

With just two Bundesliga games left before the international break, Bayern Munich remains at the top of the table. Wins of 6-0 against RB Leipzig and 3-2 against Augsburg have put Kompany’s side six points clear, showcasing their dominance in the league.
