Liverpool sign defender Emmanuel Airoboma on his first professional contract

Liverpool has promoted 18-year-old Emmanuel Airoboma to the professional squad, adding youth depth to Arne Slot’s team.

Airoboma’s Promotion to the Reds’ First Team

Liverpool announced on Wednesday (10) that defender Emmanuel Airoboma has signed his first professional contract. The club did not reveal the contract duration.

Airoboma, 18, has been with Liverpool since the under-12s and is versatile enough to play as a right-back. His promotion comes as the Reds navigate the transfer market following the sale of 22-year-old defender Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen. Liverpool attempted to sign Marc Guéhi but was unsuccessful, making Airoboma a timely addition to the squad.

Previous Promotions Under Arne Slot

The Dutch manager has already promoted young talent this season. Rio Ngumoh, 17, was professionalized earlier and scored in Liverpool’s 3-2 Premier League victory. Ngumoh is also registered for the upcoming UEFA Champions League campaign.

Liverpool Returns After FIFA Break

Liverpool will visit Burnley next Sunday (14) at Turf Moor, with kickoff at 10 a.m. (Brasília time). With nine points, Liverpool is currently the only team with a 100% record after three rounds of the Premier League.

Burnley, sitting in 14th place with three points, could climb to the top of the table with a win, adding stakes to the clash.

Reinforcements for the Reds

Liverpool also welcomed right-back Jeremie Frimpong back to training after missing matches against Arsenal and Newcastle. Manager Arne Slot may include him in the squad against Burnley.

A likely starting XI for the match could be:
Alisson; Szoboszlai, Van Dijk, Konaté, Kerkez; Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Wirtz; Salah, Gakpo, Ekitiké (Isak).
