Ousmane Dembélé injured in Ukraine vs France, new concern for Paris Saint-Germain

Ousmane Dembélé suffered a right thigh injury during France’s 2-0 win over Ukraine on Friday (5) in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. The Paris Saint-Germain winger will undergo medical scans in Paris in the coming days, raising new concerns for Luis Enrique’s squad.

France wins but loses key players

In Kyiv, France secured a solid victory with goals from Michael Olise and Kylian Mbappé. However, Didier Deschamps ended the match with two fresh injuries: Désiré Doué limped off with a calf problem, and shortly after, Dembélé was forced off due to thigh pain.

Severity still unknown

According to L’Équipe, Dembélé has already returned to Paris and will undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of the damage. PSG fears losing the attacker for several weeks, at a critical stage of both Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League.

Ruled out of next match

Deschamps confirmed that Dembélé will miss the game against Iceland, scheduled at the Parc des Princes in Paris for the second round of the qualifiers.

The Frenchman’s absence forces tactical changes for Les Bleus and increases PSG’s worries, as the club is already monitoring other fitness issues within the squad.
