Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde suffers thigh injury and will miss upcoming games

Barcelona confirmed this Tuesday (2) that Alejandro Balde, 21, suffered an injury to his left hamstring during training. The Spanish full-back, who has been a starter in all three La Liga matches so far, will now be sidelined for the coming weeks.
No recovery timeline yet
In its official statement, the club classified the injury as minor but did not provide an estimated recovery time. Balde will undergo further evaluations in the coming days to determine how long he will be out of action.
The injury adds to Barcelona’s current medical concerns. Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is recovering from back surgery, while midfielder Gavi remains unavailable with a long-term knee injury.
Balde’s importance to Barça
A product of La Masia, Balde has become a key piece of the squad since being promoted from Barcelona B in 2021. Last season, he consolidated himself as a starter, and this year he had begun the campaign in excellent form.
So far, the left-back has made 129 appearances for Barcelona’s first team, scoring three goals and delivering 18 assists. He has also earned seven caps for Spain, although he was not called up for the current FIFA international break.
What’s next for Barcelona?
Barcelona are still unbeaten in La Liga 2025/26, with two wins and one draw, scoring seven goals across three matches. The Catalans now have time to regroup during the international break.
The team returns to the pitch on Sunday, September 14, when they face Valencia at the Mestalla in the fourth round of the Spanish Championship.
