Spotlight: Liverpool vs Real Madrid

The standout match of the draw is the Anfield showdown with Real Madrid, which brings a special narrative the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The right-back, a club icon, left Liverpool this summer to join the Spanish giants.

How the New Champions League Format Works

  • Each team plays 8 matches in the league stage (four home, four away).
  • The top 8 clubs qualify directly for the round of 16.
  • Teams ranked 9th to 24th face playoffs to secure the remaining spots.
  • The stage runs from September 16–18 for the opening round and concludes on January 28, 2026 with the final fixtures.

Liverpool’s Record Last Season

The Reds were among the best performers in the 2024/25 campaign, collecting 21 points from 8 games (7 wins, 1 loss). Jürgen Klopp’s men will now look to repeat that dominance against some of Europe’s toughest rivals.
