Atlético de Madrid is evaluating the signing of Yannick Carrasco, who was offered to the club

Atlético de Madrid are considering a surprise move to re-sign Yannick Carrasco, who has been offered to the club in the final days of the transfer window, according to journalist Matteo Moretto (DAZN).
Carrasco Wants Return to Europe
The 31-year-old Belgian winger currently plays for Al-Shabab in Saudi Arabia, where he is under contract until 2027. Despite this, Carrasco is keen on returning to European football to stay competitive ahead of future international tournaments.
Carrasco already knows Atlético well:
- First spell: 2015–2018 (from AS Monaco)
- Second spell: 2020–2023 (after stint in China)
- Stats: 266 matches, 47 goals and 45 assists for Los Colchoneros
He left the club last summer to join Al-Shabab but has remained closely linked with European football.
Atlético’s Striker Search Continues
Diego Simeone’s side has had a poor start to the La Liga season, losing to Espanyol (2-1) and drawing with Elche (1-1). Despite signings like Álex Baena, Thiago Almada, and Giacomo Raspadori, results have not met expectations.
Simeone had been pushing for Juventus forward Nicolás González, but with talks stalling, Carrasco has emerged as a realistic alternative.
Why Carrasco Fits the Plan
Carrasco’s experience, versatility, and history at the club make him an appealing option. Able to play on either wing or as a second striker, he could provide much-needed depth and leadership to a squad that is struggling to find rhythm.
If Atlético and Al-Shabab reach an agreement, this would be Carrasco’s third spell with the Spanish giants, further cementing his legacy with the club.
